Board approval is necessary to authorize the County Administrator to execute agreements with other entities.

What Action Accomplishes
Authorizes the County Administrator to execute the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Broward County and the State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). The DHSMV has requested that all Tax Collectors enter into an updated MOU to support uniformity throughout the State.

THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE RECORDS, TAXES AND TREASURY DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The DHSMV recently revised the Memorandum of Understanding maintained between the DHSMV and the various Tax Collectors throughout the State of Florida.

Pursuant to Chapters 319 and 320, Florida Statutes, the Tax Collector is mandated to perform the statutory duties as an Agent of the DHSMV for transactions primarily related to motor vehicle and vessel tags, titles, and registrations.
