Summary Explanation/Background
THE BROWARD COUNTY LIBRARIES DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

On December 15, 1992, the School Board and the County entered a 50-year agreement for a library to be constructed on land owned by the City of Pembroke Pines (City) to be utilized by both the School Board, as a media center for the Walter C. Young Middle School, and as a public library by the County.

On December 3, 1996, the School Board, the County, and the City entered into a Lease Agreement to allow the School Board and the County to lease the land owned by the City on which to construct the Library, also with a 50-year lease term. The Agreement requires the Parties to share equally in the cost of major enhancements, repairs or building replacement to the Library.
